I believe that within each of us lives an innate wisdom -- a deep knowing of how to live in harmony, health and peace. But as we grow, life’s challenges, traumas and societal pressures can bury that inner guidance beneath layers of stress and disconnection.
Yoga is an ancient, holistic system that helps us return to ourselves. Often called a “spiritual science,” it’s far more than just movement. It’s a practice that integrates body, mind, heart and spirit -- guiding us toward balance, healing and wholeness.
I like to think of yoga as a wheel with many spokes. Each spoke represents a different aspect of the practice -- physical, mental, emotional and spiritual -- all working together to create a stable and sustainable foundation for living.
In Western culture, yoga is often distilled down to just the physical postures (asanas). While this aspect is valuable, it's only one part of a much richer system. In my view, this narrow focus reflects our culture’s fixation on external appearance -- often more about achieving the perfect “yoga body” than embodying the full depth of the practice.
But yoga isn’t about perfection. It’s about connection.
And it's not about performance. It’s about presence.
The more we engage with the full spectrum of yoga, the more we begin to live in alignment.
Yoga helps us:
• Cultivate self-awareness
• Reconnect with our true nature
• Heal from emotional and physical wounds
• Build resilience and inner strength
• Find balance in the midst of chaos
• Live with greater compassion and purpose
As we embody more of the system, we bring integrity to our own lives -- and extend that presence into the world around us.
My journey with yoga began in 2001. Early in my practice, I spent time studying at the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat in the Bahamas, where I was first introduced to the depth and power of the classical Raja Yoga system.
In 2017, I completed my 200-hour teacher training in Raja Yoga and became a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance. In 2019, I continued my education and earned additional teaching certifications in Yin, Restorative and Trauma-Informed Yoga -- which deeply inform the way I now hold space for students.
Yoga has been a healing force in my life. It has supported me through chronic physical pain -- including long-term injury from a broken leg, subsequent foot surgery and severe disc issues in my lower back. It also helped me navigate the emotional and energetic demands of balancing single motherhood, a full-time career, running a part-time business and continuing my formal education all at once.
Through all of this, yoga brought me back to center -- again and again.
Today, I share these teachings with others from a place of lived experience, compassion and authenticity. My approach is person-centered and non-judgmental. I aim to create a space where you feel seen, supported and empowered on your own unique path.
My classes are rooted in a gentle, spiritual and creative practice informed by the full eight-limbed path of classical yoga. I also incorporate elements of Yin, Restorative and trauma-informed practices to support nervous system regulation and emotional healing.
You can expect a balance of:
•Asanas (physical postures)
•Pranayama (breath awareness)
•Pratyahara (turning inward)
•Dharana (concentration practices)
•Dhyana (meditation)
•Subtle anatomy (including the chakra system)
•Yamas & Niyamas (ethical living)
•Samadhi (spiritual connection and unity)
Whether you're curious about yoga for the first time, looking to heal something specific or ready to deepen your practice, I’m here to support you with compassion and clarity.
